Something old becomes new and much much more.

Last week was wonderful! It started at the beginning of the week when jack had a grand  idea to paint his beloved Piano. We have hauled this darling, beastly, heavy, monstrous thing through 8 moves. Yep! 8.

Jack plays beautifully, and as big a pain as it is to move (obviously I don't move it) it, we will NEVER be without her. She brings music to life through the walls of our home. She cheers us during the holidays. She reminds me of my ability to sing, Jack and I a Match.

As he sits and plays and I stand close by singing, I am transported to a feeling of how those old fashioned iconic couples must have felt when together. Like Johnny and June or Sonny and Cher, or Carey Grant and Deborah Kerr (if Carey played the piano, but you get the idea).

We dismantled her completely reducing her to total nakedness, and began

A week later after an obscene amount of sanding and painting, sanding and painting. We put her together again. She turned out better than we ever expected!

Before, this piano had no name. Now she is Grace. She stands as much a presence in our family as anyone else. She brings spirit and joy to us all.

Jack to me is my living soul, together we have made four beautiful children, who I hope one day will tell stories of how they loved seeing their parents at the piano sharing and giving grace.
